The National Academy of Sciences, Republic of Korea, is the senior national organization of distinguished Korean scientists and scholars. Its primary objective is to promote learning and research in all areas of sciences by conferring membership and preferential treatment to those who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of sciences and learning. The Academy consists of some 150 members who have been selected by their peers for their outstanding academic contributions.
The NAS is dedicated to :
Fostering the highest levels of learning and research in all areas of scholarship by conferring the National Academy of Sciences Award;
Making available its members' broad and varied knowledge to evaluate academic works and to offer advice on social, cultural, economic and scientific issues for the benefit of Korea;
Promoting Korean scholarship and accomplishments through active academic exchanges with other international academies.
Recommending various policies for the promotion of science to the Government.
